A trend that has come back around is wallpaper. Wallpaper is much different than it used to be – you can now buy removeable wallpaper! Wallpaper is a great way to add a pop of color or texture to an otherwise neutral space, or add drama to a small powder room. Tracy and Amber have removed so much wallpaper in their days that they haven’t tried new removeable wallpaper yet, but they are open to the idea! Check out this wallpaper removal transformation…
Amber’s Dining Room – Before
Amber’s Dining Room had multiple layers of wallpaper on the bottom half of the wall – the top layer being a grassy textured finish that was peeling at the corners. The wallpaper removal process took over a week, but Amber was committed to updating this space and powered through it!
Here are tools she used to help get the job done:
· Wallpaper Stripper – Home Depot / $4.37 a bottle (Amber used 3 bottles for this job)
· Scoring Tool – ACE hardware / $9.99
· Plastic Putty Knife Set – Amazon / $5.59 (the variety of sizes is good for corners, tight spaces or open wall)
Amber’s Dining Room – After
Amber wanted to take advantage of the chair rail on the wall and make it look like she had wainscoting, so she painted the bottom half of her wall Behr - White. To make the space a bit dramatic, she painted the top half Behr - Very Navy. Disclaimer: This is the only room in Amber’s house that is not white or beige, so she wanted to make a statement. This color may be too dark for some to try – but Amber loves the outcome!
